Brooke Christa Shields Bio

Brooke Christa Shields was born on May 31, 1965. When she was 12, she was a child model. She won critical acclaim for her role in Louis Malle's film Pretty Baby (1978). She continued modeling into her teens, and was featured in many dramas in the 1980s such as The Blue Lagoon (1980) and Franco Zeffirelli's Endless Love (1981). In 1983, Shields ended her modeling career to attend Princeton University where she received an undergraduate degree in Romance Languages. In the 1990s, Shields returned to acting and appeared in minor parts in films. She also appeared on the NBC sitcoms Suddenly Susan (1996-202000), where she was nominated for two Golden Globes. Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009) was her second nomination. In 2017 Shields was back on NBC with a major recurring role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit during the show's 19th season. Shields has the role of Beverly Goodman on Adult Swim's animated series Mr. Pickles, and its spinoff Momma Named Me Sheriff. Brooke Christa Shields was born in Manhattan, New York on May 31, 1965. She is the daughter of actress and model Teri Shields (nee Schmon, 1933-2012) and businessman Frank Shields (1941-2003). According to William Addams Reitwiesner's research, Shields is related to several noble families from Italy, particularly from Genoa as well as Rome. These are namely (in chronological order of descent from 1355 to 1965) the Gattilusi-Palaiologos-Savoy, Grimaldi, Imperiali, Carafa, Doria, Doria-Pamphili-Landi, Chigi-Albani, and Torlonia dynasties. Her paternal grandmother was Italian noblewoman Marina Torlonia di Cvitella-Cesi who was the daughter of an Italian prince and an American socialite. Her great-uncle, Alessandro Torlonia, an Italian nobleman was the husband of Infanta Beatriz in Spain. Teri was paid a sum by Frank's family to stop the pregnancy.
