Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), Nurse, and
Lance Frederick McAdams, a truck driver and furniture moving. Rachel is of
English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish heritage. Rachel started her journey into
acting at the age of 13 and by the age of 13 she was performing in
Shakespearean productions at summer theatre camps. She graduated with honors ,
earning a BFA degree in theater from York University. After her first
appearance on TV in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, Rachel starred in
Canadian television's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy-drama follows the
struggles of Shakespearean theater groups. Rachel was awarded an Gemini Award
for her performance in 2003. The role she played in Mean Girls (2004) as Regina
George instantly landed her in the top tier of Hollywood's list of promising
young actors. She followed that film with the role of a major character
opposite Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The
Notebook (2004) that was a surprising box office hit and quickly became the
main romantic drama for the new younger generation of moviegoers. McAdams and
Gosling began to fall in love while filming, and continued to stay in touch
through the middle of 2007. McAdams followed with her next film, the comedy
Wedding Crashers (2006), the thriller Red Eye (2004), and the Christmas drama
The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent cinema with
Married Life (2007) which premiered at Toronto Film Festival. It also included
Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper, as well as Patricia Clarkson. McAdams was seen
in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008), respectively. She also
starred in The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's
global hit Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams portrayed the plucky producer in
Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's fiancee, who was a
materialist in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to romantic
drama with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams also appears alongside
Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as Noomi Rapace is Passion
(2012) in Brian De Palma's thriller.
